Twenty Somethings At 'The Twenties'

Hey guys! We are Exotic Palate and today we launch our official blog. Yay!

What a fantastic year it had been, exploring the delicacies around Bhopal which were absolutely lip smacking. After the success of our Instagram page and 100 subscribers on YouTube, we are finally ready to have a blog.

So, a few weeks ago, we got to collaborate with a fellow YouTuber and our friend - Tech Phase. We decided to meet atThe Twenties.

And there, you guys must have guessed it right. Yes, we are going to talk aboutThe Twenties, which is a good restaurant by the way.

Twenties – restaurant, lounge & bar is situated in MP Nagar, opposite DB City mall.  The interior of the restaurant is a well planned and vintages themed area which moves towards a dark toned colour palette with enough amount of lighting to set the ambience. On the left side from the entrance is the bar area and the lounge is setup separately on the rooftop, which I think is a sensible design. Not everyone is comfortable with sheesha, are we? I was impressed by the dining area. Every table was placed in such a manner that it gave you the feel of having your own booth but you were still connected with the people around you. There was a lot of space to move around, no cluster and the concept of personal space, is achieved here.

Ambience made us comfortable enough that we ended up spending a lot of time there and food was there to accompany us, thank goodness. Going to any restaurant, first things we all order are either coffee beverage or noodles. Thanks to you guys who constantly engage with us and tell us your preferences. Nonetheless, we ordered chicken Schezwan noodles, cold coffee with and without ice cream and paneer tikka. One thing that I liked out the restaurant staff is that they were well informed about the the menu. They recommended us their best dish, which is uncommon. Mostly waiters will try to dodge the question by saying “every dish is equally great”.

Another thing that impressed me was the fast and polite service. Our order was on our table with 10-15 mins and every thing was attended promptly. Our orders were served and it was time for us to dig in. Let’s talk about chicken Schezwan noodles first. I think chef missed two things – chicken and Schezwan. We missed the heat of spicy Schezwan and had to search for scarce chicken shreds among the noodles. I don’t think Schezwan noodles taste Hakka noodles, do they? Rest the seasoning was appropriate and of just the right amount.

Moving on to Paneer tikka, which was ah-mazing. 10 pieces of aptly marinated paneer cubes with the side of refreshing mint chutney, was extremely satisfying to my tongue palette and my pocket. I utilised I penny I spent on that dish and to tell you a fact this was the recommended dish. Mr. Tech Phase who came for cold coffee was in paneer heaven after eating paneer tikkas.

And as for the cold coffees, they were cold and had coffee in it. Just Kidding! Cold coffee was great and it wasn’t overloaded with ice creams like we thought they would have been. Taste of coffee and ice cream was distinctive.

To conclude I’d say, Twenties is the kind the kind of restaurant that will emerge as one of the best and popular places to eat out. Despite having the ordinary menu with nothing exquisite to serve, the service, ambience and taste had me going gaga over it for a few days. If you are looking to host a party, they have arrangements for that. Wanna spent a musical weekend; ‘Twenties’ got you covered with its Bollywood nights on Saturday’s and Sunday’s. It’s a great family restaurant and you will not be disappointed with it. And definitely not regret spending a little too much.As of now the restaurant only has beer on the menu but don’t get disheartened, lounge menu is varied and taste and quality of the food has not been compromised.
